What is Dental Bonding?
It’s a procedure in which materials that are intended to restore and/or improve the appearance of teeth are attached permanently.  There are two general types:  direct composite bonding and adhesive bonding.

What is The Dental Bonding Procedure?
Once the composite color is selected from a palette, the tooth is isolated with a rubber sheet, which also keeps it dry.  In preparation, the surface of the tooth is roughened with a gentle phosphoric acid solution for about 15 seconds, after which a liquid bonding agent is applied.  The dentist puts the bonding material on the tooth and sculpts it to the desired shape.  A high intensity light is then used to harden the material.  This may be repeated several times until the size and shape are correct.  The final step is to polish the bonded area to match the rest of the tooth.

What are The Benefits of Dental Bonding?
Many people prefer bonding because it the easiest and least expensive solution for correcting their teeth.  Most dental bonds can be done right in the dentist’s office, often in just one visit.  In that case, there’s no need for fittings, temporary materials or lab fabrication and a minimal amount of tooth enamel is removed. This means little to no sanding down of teeth and usually no anesthesia.
